Man sentenced for armed robbery

MUNISING -- One of thee men involved in an armed robbery case in Munising Township was sentenced on Wednesday in Alger County court.

Israel Velez pled no contest to home invasion, armed robbery, and unlawful imprisonment charges stemming from an incident involving three other men and a Munising Township resident. Velez will be headed to prison for 25 to 60 years.

Ruben Rodriguez, a man also involved in the armed robbery incident, was found guilty on Friday regarding armed robbery charges. His sentencing is scheduled for February.

A third man involved in the case, Isaac Cotto, pled no contest to charges of armed robbery, unlawful imprisonment and home invasion on Wednesday. His sentencing date has not yet been set.
