Identity released in fatal crash

MARQUETTE -- The man hit and killed by a vehicle on December 23 has been identified as 53-year-old John James Mahoney III of Marquette.

According to police, Mahoney was attempting to cross US-41 near the Grove Street/US-41 bypass at around 8:16 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle. Mahoney was fatally injured in the collision.

The Marquette City Police Department is still investigation the crash.
