Expect a lot less snow after the weekend

A lot of snow will be melting this weekend. Saturday will kick off a warming trend that will last through Monday. As south winds bring warm air into the Great Lakes region all day ahead of an incoming low pressure system, expect highs to be around 40. Expect mostly cloudy to overcast skies with some light rain, possibly mixed with snow in the morning, much of the day ahead of this system.

Saturday night will see more rain with a passing warm front, but showers should diminish west to east overnight. Thanks to that front, temperatures will barely drop and lows will only be in the mid 30s.

After the system passes overnight Saturday, winds will take a turn out of the west or northwest, meaning that Sunday's temperatures will be similar to Saturday's. Any early rain showers should clear up and make way for a little sunshine in the afternoon.

On Sunday night, winds will pick up again out of the south ahead of another warm front and low pressure system. Lows will only fall to the lower 30s under partly cloudy skies.

On Monday, the south wind will bring highs up to the low 50s. Monday's record high is 59 set in 1982 and 1998. It won't likely get that warm because of a strong cloud cover, but it will definitely be over 20 degrees above average. Expect rain on Monday, but as a cold front passes on Monday night, it will likely transition to snow.

It may not be ideal for skiers on Monday, but the warmth won't last long. I may even break out a pair of shorts! Join me on Facebook and tonight on the Late News for the latest forecast.
