The day after Thanksgiving will be snowy

UPPER PENINSULA -- Blowing snow, slippery roads, and wind chill values in the teens...that's what Friday's forecast calls for in some Upper Peninsula locations. A low pressure system over the Upper Midwest will drag a strong cold front across Lake Superior and Upper Michigan Thursday night, bringing a return to winter weather across Upper Michigan.

Increasing north to northwest winds behind the front will allow for moderate to locally heavy snow to fall close to Lake Superior late Thursday into Friday, with some spots seeing more than six inches of snow. Gusty winds to 45 miles per hour will cause blowing snow and will add a sharp bite to the chilly air.

The heaviest snow will likely fall from Friday morning to Friday evening, highly inconvenient for shoppers and travelers on the day after Thanksgiving.
