UPDATED: A 31-year-old Ishpeming man is lodged in the Marquette County Jail following an accident Monday afternoon
NEGAUNEE -- UPDATED: Tuesday, 12:45 p.m.
A 31-year-old Ishpeming man is lodged in the Marquette County Jail after causing an accident on Monday in Negaunee.
Michigan State Police troopers arrested the man for operating while intoxicated; posession of a firearm while intoxicated and posession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle. His name is being witheld pending arraignment in Marquette District Court.
Troopers from the Negaunee post responded to the intersection of US-41 and Baldwin Street on Monday around 3:00 p.m. The suspect, driving a 2003 Ford pick-up truck struck a 2006 Buick four-door vehicle driven by 67-year-old Robert Morrison of Negaunee.
Morrison was not injured in the crash. The suspect sustained a non-life-threatening head injury. He was treated at the scene by Bell EMS. Officers were alerted to the suspect's erratic driving minutes earlier by a motorist who called Marquette County Central Dispatch.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by officers from the Negaunee Police Department.

The driver of a pickup truck has been arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a crash in Negaunee. Police received a call Monday afternoon regarding a possible drunk driver heading westbound on US-41 toward Negaunee.
The driver of the pickup truck crashed before police were able to catch up with him. Police say he attempted to make a left turn onto Baldwin Avenue in Negaunee and collided with an oncoming car heading eastbound on US-41.
The name of the driver who was arrested has not been released yet.
