Wetlands that were damaged by the fire are in good condition now, but some of the trees are taking longer
SENEY -- It's been over a month since a wildfire broke out at the Seney National Wildlife Refuge. The fire burned more than 3,000 acres.
Now, animals are coming back. Wetlands that were damaged by the fire are in good condition now, but some of the trees are taking longer.
"The forested areas are lagging a little but behind the bottom of the forest floor is still pretty bare. The ferns have sprouted back up and they're coming back in. A few of the trees are, of course, dead," said Sarah Giles, manager for the visitor services.
Park officials are doing guided tours for the public every Wednesday from 7 until 9:30 p.m.
