Fear for profit

Posted by T C, Iron Mtn - Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:50 a.m.

Exactly! All this was generated for profit and by greenpeace to eliminate or at least reduce our consumption of oil. Go green, go green is all you hear some of it I agree with to save on bills and usage of power. But I will not succumb to the idiocracies of the left trying to generate this fear that the world is ending. The fact that the ice fields are growing now because we may be heading into a cooling cycle, will never be heard on the news. All they say is it is a fluke year but will melt again next year or the year after. Hmmm like it has for the last 1,000 years. Wake up people and quit buying into the hype that the sky is falling.

I have to add these links because i know you staunch global warming supporters will never go look on your own. Here are a couple links to some of the scamming you've witnessed:

http://www.iceagenow.com/We_overlooked_193000_square_miles_of_ice.htm

That one is based on actual scientific information. A computer error made the scientists miss 193,000 square miles of ice cover that they thought had melted!

http://www.iceagenow.com/Antarctic_ice_growing_not_shrinking.htm

This one tells of how the atarctic ice fields have actually grown about 5%. You wont see a lot of this info on the news. Now tell me...Do scientist not make mistakes?

Just sayin

Posted by citizen x, delta county - Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 9:22 p.m.

Argument?... When was this ever debated? Global warming has never been debated by scientists in view of the public eye. People are buying into it because of the volume of information they are being bombarded with over this particular hoax. People shouldnt believe in it at all. If for no other reason than the money being made off of this scam (Al gor made 31 million dollars off of this). The "climate change exchange" and other carbon trading elitist groups are the ones pushing this BS. The antarctic ice fields are GROWING. The earth is about to enter a COOLING cycle. You wont ever hear that stuff on the main stream media. The media only reports what makes people fear. When was the last time you ever heard any good news on TV? Do a little independent research on your own. Use the google and ask about the "carbon credit sales", the ice fields on the south pole, the next cooling cycle and the northern ice fields. You might be surprised as to what you find. 1.8 degrees and the earth is warming out of control? That seems pretty stable over a 100 year period to me. The power of suggestion realy worked here "gee, isnt it getting warmer?" " sure is hotter today than I remember it being when I was a kid" remember.. if you think it is hotter than it used to be 20 yars ago...1.8 degrees over 100 years.. Think you'd notice that?... X

Just sayin from Ishpeming listen up

Do you want to listen to real science? Or science from people who are willing to say anything to get government money to study something that is a natural cycle?

The sun is at a low cycle right now with a record lack of sunspots. When the sun was at its high cycle a few years ago there was more sunspots and hence more northern lights activity. Notice the lack of the northern lights the last few years and the extreme cold that we experienced? Also note that Alaska had some record cold this year. The arctic ice has grown baffling "scientists". Snow in Iran, Saudia Arabia, record cold and snow all over the US, the list goes on and on.

Back in 2001 astronomers noted that temperatures had increased on the outer planets and the polar ice cap on Mars melted. Did you know that the atmosphere on Mars is 95% CO2 and here on earth it is less than 1%?

You need to put down the Kool-aid, step back and look at all sides of the issue, not just a one-sided politically driven side.

If you need more evidence that global warming is a natural cycle and NOT our fault, I can give it to you.

So what are you doing to fight AGW?

17,200

17,200 scientists believe that global warming is not man made, if it's occurring at all.

LATE SNOW ???

Posted by R K, ISHPEMING - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 9:52 p.m.

An oldtimer told me , that in the early 1940,s a high school graduation party in JUNE was cancelled be cause of a snow storm. It was at the old NATIONAL MINE HIGH SCHOOL....

Global Warming doesn't care if you believe in it or not...

Posted by Just Sayin', Ishpeming - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 9:21 p.m.

The world scientific community doesn't particularly care if you believe Global Warming exists or not, nor do they care if you believe it is caused by human activity. That argument is over. Your side lost. Global Warming exists and it is caused by human activity. Rant and rave about it all you want. Our society is going on without you. Join us when you're done.

global warming

Posted by J D, Ishpeming - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 9:03 p.m.

Just so people understand the idea of "global warming," climate and geological data shows that earth undergoes a cyclic ice age. We are supposed to be entering one right now, but instead, the overall climate is getting warmer. This means that, eventually, when things do get cold, it's going to be fast and extreme. Not "Day After Tomorrow" fast, but noticable nonetheless.

The 50/50 scientist opinion is tossed out there a lot, and it's really a bunch of crap. When people say that they are mostly energy lobbies--and we can definitely trust them, right? They would never lie to keep making a buck. There are less than 200 climatologists in the world who are study the climate on the scale required to document whether global warming exists or not, however, and they are all in agreement that it does exist. Their opinion is the only one that matters, not other scientists from other fields like medicine or the like--people who are scientists, but lack the qualification to lend their title toward the topic at hand outside of a manipulated marketing ploy.

Global warming is a reality, but the ultimate side effect is the coming of an already postponed global ice age. And if you think the economy sucks now, the cooler periods of earth's history match some of the most violent times in human history. At least we'll be able to watch it happen until a massive solar flare fries the world's electrical grid because we're too lazy to plan for it. You people have to realize that there is an entire universe out there beyond the scope of what you might be "perceiving" as happening, and everybody knows that, religious or otherwise, you cannot do something--like trash the planet--without paying the consequence. In this case, it's a consequence that should have already happened naturally, and our postponing of it is what is making it so dangerous.

Invented the Internet??

Posted by Adrianna Cadeau, LA - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 8:44 p.m.

TC, where in my comment did I say anything about the guy who invented the internet? What the heck does that have to with anything. Why say that Al Gore's book to some people is the "bible" that's just down right stupid. Just leave it be! Let the weather do it's thing. The weather changes in the matter of mins in the UP. Oh well that's life. LET IT SNOW! :)

oh my gosh... :(

agree to disagree.

So Many things wrong?

Posted by T C, Iron Mtn - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 2:26 p.m.

It looks like you have quoted that out of good old Als book. There is no proof that anything he has written is true. You have 100 scientist 50 say global warming and 50 say nothing is happening. Maybe you should do research? If you read my comment I said (now follow closely) it changed a degree or 2 some "warmer" some "cooler". But I suppose you feel his book is a bible. For the number of "experts" that say global wrming is happening you will find just as many saying it isn't and in 10 years we will see who the fools really are.

April Lawn Care

THIS IS THE WAY YOOPERS WATER THIER LAWN IN APRIL.
SOMETIMES MAY AND JUNE TOO.

TC there are so many things wrong with your reply

Posted by Rock Granite, Ishpeming - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 2:04 p.m.

1 - fear??? like threats of terrorism from good ol' W?
2 - 2 degrees????? haven't you read any of the scientific studies saying that a mere two degrees will throw the ocean's ecology out of whack? Let's say it's 30 degrees out. Warms up an average of 2 degrees. Guess what? Ice melts. You know how much ice ias at both ends of the earth? Enough to swamp the coasts. The ecology of the seas change and with the colder water flowing towards the equator pushes warmer water back north. only for more melting. this changes the algea and organisms. feeding habits change and the species that make up our waters are altered.

You keep thinking you see the whole big picture, but let me tell you...open your eyes.

Look at it this way....

Posted by K W, Ishpeming - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:45 p.m.

it is warm enough out to send the kids outside to play and make a snowman! The snow isn't going to last for long.

Read clearly

Posted by T C, Iron Mtn - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:41 p.m.

I wasn't complaining about the snow. I was merely poking fun at all the fools that are still preaching the (global warming/climate change) nonsense. Enough is enough in 4 yrs. from now you won't find one person to admit they bought his book.

Makes me laugh

Posted by T C, Iron Mtn - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:28 p.m.

Well for one Mark I don't need to know how weather systems work. I have been working outdoors for the last 22 yrs and yes even the winter months. I do know the weather hasn't changed a whole lot maybe a degree or 2 some yrs warmer some cooler. I was working down in Chicago back in 94 when 400 plus died down there because they were afraid to open there windows. Then 2 yrs after that they were screaming global freezing. Adrianna I wouldn't expect you to buy my book. Why because I'm not the idiot that claims to have invented the internet. You want to worship him have at it. Like I have said the earth goes in cycles and all Al Gore did was generate fear for profit.

TC....wow

Posted by Adrianna Cadeau, LA - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 12:37 p.m.

TC, you do sound like a fool. I would never buy a book that you have written! Get over it, it's still only April, we aren't out of the clear yet for snow!

TC..what?

Posted by Mark Ett, Marquette - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 12:31 p.m.

do you understand how weather systems work? obviously not. you sound like a fool with your comment. However, I'm not on either side of this argument. Not enough evidence either way. We'll figure it out though. It's people like you I can't stand who are so hardened in their ways that you won't be open minded.

so many people complaining

Global warming

Posted by T C, Iron Mtn - Monday, April 20, 2009 at 12:02 p.m.

Global warming at its finest. This goes to show you how much of an Idiot Al Gore is and all his followers are. But wait there will be some who have wasted there money on his book and will tell you that this is part of global warming. Oh thats right its now climate change. It is fear generated so he can make millions. The earth goes in cycles and we are now going through a cooling cycle and in 3 to 5 yrs. from now we might be in a warming cycle again. I'm going to write a book about global freezing since its already been cooler for a yr or two. Will you buy that one also.
