LUCE COUNTY -- Time is running short for landowners impacted by the Duck Lake wildfire.

Those looking for financial assistance have until October 9 to sign up for the Emergency Forest Restoration Program.  It provides financial assistance, up to 75 percent of the cost to implement approved forest restoration practices.

To sign up, contact your nearest DNR office for help.  DNR officials say you must apply by the October 9 deadline, however you can change your mind any time during the planning process.

The wildfire burned through 21,000 thousand acres of Luce County forest.
