QUINNESEC -- Verso Paper, along with the Sustainable Resources Institute, are in search of landowners.

Verso has created a grant for landowners to have a certified forest under the Forest Stewardship Council.  The company needs more certified wood to continue satisfying many of their customers who demand certified paper.

"They would need a Forest Stewardship Management plan.  If they have one already, it would be as simple as filling out an application, and if they want their wood to be certified, it would have to be harvested by a master logger," said Donald Peterson, Executive Director of the Sustainable Resources Institute.

Verso and Sustainable Resources Institute are looking to get started as soon as possible, and the project is open to both private and public landowners.

Anyone interested can call Sustainable Forest Management Network at (877) 284-3882.
