ESCANABA -- The U.P. State Fairgrounds officially opened up a new facility where visitors can witness the miracle of life.
The facility serves as a way for farmers at the U.P. State Fair to display livestock that are ready to give birth or have just given birth. Visitors can see how the birthing process works as well as see how farm animals behave with their young.
State fair officials are hoping this is used as a learning experience.
"The goal is to educate the public. There's so much that people don't know when it comes to farm life and agriculture, so this certainly is an opportunity for people to experience it as close to firsthand as possible," said Vicki Micheau of the U.P. State Fair.
As the fair opened up on Monday, they held a ribbon cutting for the new building. Some of the funding came from supporters like the Michigan Farm Bureau and Greenstone Farm Credit.
