GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year Ali Haidar scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Michigan Tech men's basketball team to a 117-53 win over local foe Finlandia Wednesday (Nov. 7). The 64 point margin of victory was the largest ever against Finlandia.

"The biggest thing I felt after the game was that we stayed within ourselves even when we had a large lead," said head coach Kevin Luke. "We were able to get plenty of playing time for our 7-12 guys."

Freshman
Kyle Stankowski poured in 17 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field, and made all three free throws.

Sophomore
Phil Romback (14), junior Austin Armga (11) and senior Matt Esters (10) all finished in double figures for the Huskies. All 13 players in the line-up scored for Tech.

The Huskies used a balanced game outscoring the Lions 60-30 in the first half and 57-23 in the second. Tech cleaned up the glass 46-21 and outshot FU 55-percent to 31-percent.

Junior Ben Coleman was the lone Lion in double figures finishing with 13.

Tech will open the regular season at Southwest Minnesota State, Thursday (Nov. 15).
