The Michigan Tech women's soccer team scored it's 10th win of the season with a 3-0 GLIAC win Friday (Oct. 26). The meeting was the first between the two schools.
The Huskies dominated the match offensively out-shooting the Pioneers 31-4 and 13-3 in shots on goal.
"We attacked well from outside," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "We did a good job of getting crosses into the box."
Janelle Riedl
scored the first goal for the Huskies off a loose ball in the box in the 35th minute. The goal was her fifth of the season.
Lexi Herrewig
beat a defender in the penalty box to score her third goal of the season in the 65th minute.
Katie Pappas
assisted on the goal.
Rachel Hook
completed the scoring for the Huskies with just over one minute remaining. After taking a pass from
Alyssa Hynnek
she beat Pioneer goalie Angie Nutial with a high shot from the end line.
"Rachel made a nice run forward, and it was a great first goal for her," said Jacob.
Jenna Phelps
made eight saves for the Huskies for her eighth shutout of the season.
Tech (12-3-1, 10-1-1) will close the regular season when it hosts Walsh Sunday (Oct. 28).
