Michigan Tech soccer remains atop the GLIAC standings after defeating Findlay 2-1

The Michigan Tech women's soccer team remains atop the GLIAC standings after defeating Findlay 2-1 at Sherman Field Friday (Sept. 28) night. The team improves to 6-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in league play.
"I was happy to come away with the win tonight," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "Findlay put a lot of pressure on us. I was happy we protected our net and finished the game."
The Huskies enjoyed an early lead scoring both of its goals in the first 11 minutes.
Danna Kasom
scored her first goal of the season with a header off a pass from
Alyssa Hynnek
in the ninth minute.
Melanie Hoffman
also assisted on the goal.
Lindsey Van Rooy
scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 11th minute. The Kaukauna, Wis., native scored off a loose ball in the penalty box following a corner kick.
"Danna's goal off a header was awesome and to get another goal right after was great," said Jacob. "It was really good to see us get some momentum."
Megan Gallaway scored the lone Findlay goal with a header off a corner kick in the 67th minute.
Jenna Phelps
made six saves on seven shots for her sixth win for the Huskies.
Tech finished with a slim advantage in shots 16-15, but Findlay dominated corner kicks 6-1.
Tech hosts Tiffin Sunday (Sept. 30).
