Karen Plaisier didn't let a quadruple-bogey nine trip her up. The Ishpeming Wawonowin golfer followed it up with par on the last three holes of the day to win her fifth Upper Peninsula Ladies Golf Association senior championship.

Plaisier won her first title in 2000, the first year she was eligible for the tournament.  She added victories in 2002, 2003 and 2010. She moves in to second place on the UPLGA senior wins list, one behind U.P. Sports Hall of Famer Flossie Strong.

She narrowly beat out Sue Micklow of Marquette (81). JoAnn Poncino of Iron Mountain Pine Grove and former champion Dorothy Dansdill of Sault Ste. Marie tied for third with 84.

Micklow was two strokes ahead of Plaisier after 10 holes before she double-bogeyed the par-3 No. 10. Micklow bogeyed No. 15 when Plaisier lost it and quadruple-bogeyed to go three strokes up with three holes left, but she hit double bogeys on the final three holes while Plaisier hit pars.

There were seven former champions in the field including Plaisier and Dansdill. Nancy Osier of Gogebic finished with 87, Karen McCorkle of Gladstone finished with 90, as did Marlene Rowe of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., who won her only senior title in 1993. Sharon Laskowski of Oak Crest finished with a 92, and Janet Hruska of Marquette finished with a 94.
