BATTLE CREEK -- Division Three defending state champion Clinton proved once again to be worthy of its top billing by blanking Gladstone 4-0 in the championship contest in Battle Creek.
Redskins' starting pitcher Tierney Nelson, who will continue her career at Lamar University in Texas, was able to get out of several jams in the contest. The Braves left six runners on base between the third and fifth innings. Nelson allowed six hits and struck out seven in a complete game performance.
Clinton plated three runs in the third inning. Cami Prater completed the scoring with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Gladstone starting pitcher Alison Austin was replaced after the round tripper by Christine Sharon.
The Braves end a great season with a 30-6-1 record. Clinton won its last 39 games to finish state champs with a 43-1 mark.
