MENOMINEE -- He's won more state high school football titles than anyone else in the Upper Peninsula:  three.  And after more than four decades as a coach, Menominee's Ken Hofer is retiring.

He won state titles in 1998, 2006 and 2007 with the Maroons running the single wing offense.

His career record stands at 342 wins, 136 losses and three ties.

Hofer was inducted into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. He's also in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Hofer graduated from Stephenson High School where he was an all-state athlete, playing football and track. He lettered at the University of Wisconsin.
