MARQUETTE -- Hancock's Dylan Peterson won the one spot available to compete in the Michigan Amateur Golf Tournament.
Peterson had a 76 Saturday in a qualifying event at Greywalls in Marquette.
Manistique's Mike Magy is the first alternate. Nagy shot a 77.
The Michigan Amateur is two weeks away at the Oakland Hills Country Club.
Meanwhile two Upper Peninsula golfers took part in the USGA, US Women's Amatuer Public Links qualifying tournament over the weekend at Washington County Golf Course in Hartland, Wisconsin.
UP Sports Hall of Famer Syd Wells of Menominee recorded a seven over par 79, good for a tie for eighth place.
Michigan State redshirt freshman Carley Saint-Onge of Marquette tied for sixth place with a five over par 77.
Both Wells and Saint-Onge had two birdies in their rounds.
But just the top three qualified for the 2012 US Women's Amateur Public Links national tournament in New Jersey.
One of Saint-Onge's Spartan teammates, Allyssa Ferrell of Edgerton, Wisconsin, led the way with a five under par 67.
Another Spartan, Caroline Powers, of Bowling Green, Ohio, qualified for the national event at another site.
