HARRIS, MI -- Last fall the LPGA Futures Tour announced it would return to the Island Resort and Casino in Harris. The tour has since changed its name to the "Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA," but the goal remains the same.

The top ten golfers on the money list will garner a tour card on the regluar LPGA circuit.

There are 16 stops on this year's Symetra Tour schedule, with the Island Resort Championship set for the weekend of June 29 to July 1.

Last year's event at the Sweetgrass Golf Club was a huge success, drawing big crowds to see Marquette's Carley Saint Onge competing and Stephanie Kim winning the tournament on the last few holes.

Both players and event organizers say Harris was definitely one of the best stops on the 2011 tour.  "I love the course. Just the people here actually made it even more special for me," said three-year tour veteran, Victoria Elizabeth. "They're so supportive and they were so welcoming to us. It just made it more fun to be here."

"The Sweetgrass Golf Club is a beautiful course, it's very challenging, it was in great condition," said VP of Business Tracey Kerdyk. "They have great facilities here. The hospitality was here and the promotion. They had crowds and that's what the players want to see; they want to see the people out there cheering them on."

The Island Resort Championship is a 54-hole competition and will give away $110,000 in prize money at this year's event.
