HANCOCK -- (Courtesy of Finlandia Athletics) Finlandia University Director of Athletics Chris Salani announced today that the university will be making a change in its leadership within its women's hockey program.
Coach Heather Reinke has been relieved of her coaching duties after leading the women’s hockey program the last four seasons. “I appreciate the hard work Heather has put into being our women's hockey coach over her tenure,” Salani said. “She has been a loyal and committed representative of our athletic department and university, and will continue within our athletics program under her role as Assistant Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator.
Since her hire in 2008, the Finlandia women's program, which competes in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), has a cumulative wins and loss record of 7 – 90 – 3 (.085), with the 2009-2010 season being the Lion’s best season under Reinke achieving a 5 – 21 – 1 (.220) record. This past season, the Lion’s women’s hockey program finished at 0 – 22 – 2 (.042).
“We will immediately begin the search for a new women's head hockey coach at Finlandia,” said Salani.
