Tech Volleyball starts well, but Ohio Dominican wins

HOUGHTON -- Rachel Billing recorded a double-double (21 kills, 15 digs) for Ohio Dominican to lead the Panthers to a 3-1 victory over the Michigan Tech volleyball team Saturday (Oct. 8).
Alex Schwalbe recorded a team-high 12 kills for the Huskies. A quartet of Tech players finished with 10 or more digs. Abby DeWitt tallied a team-high 14 digs, and Tessa Mauer added 11. Shelby Jones and Kenzie Tonn each chipped in 10.
Michigan Tech won the first set 28-26 thanks to a match-high nine attack errors by Ohio Dominican, including a pair of attacking errors on the final two points.
ODU won the next two sets by identical scores of 25-19. The Panthers would win the fourth and final set 25-21.
Ciara Sebelius handled the majority of the setting duties for the Huskies tallying 28 of the team’s 38 assists.
Tech will face Northern Michigan in Marquette, Mich., Tuesday (Oct. 11).
