The undefeated Northern Michigan football team entered the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 this week. The Wildcats are ranked No. 23 after defeating Northwood, 38-17 on Saturday in the Superior Dome. NMU is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

"It’s always nice to be ranked but it will mean a lot more towards the end of the season," NMU head coach Bernie Anderson said.

The Wildcats travel to Ashland on Saturday (Sept. 24) to take on the 1-2 Eagles. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

NMU is 3-0 for the first time since 1997. The only other team ranked in the top 25 from the GLIAC is Wayne State. NMU and Wayne State face off in the Superior Dome on Oct. 1.
