MARQUETTE -- Marquette Electricians Midget AAA hockey head coach Mike Dagenais announced Tuesday that he will be leaving the Marquette Electricians at the conclusion of this hockey season. Dagenais, 27, took over from Scott Nevenhoven in November of 2007 and has been behind the Electricians' bench for almost four complete seasons.

“I have really enjoyed working at this level, and although our record could be better, we have always played the best competition available, and we have been very successful in moving players into the junior and college ranks,” said Dagenais.  "And I can’t thank enough Assistant Coaches Nino Fogarolli, Ben Biddick and Jon Nebel for helping to provide the knowledge, leadership and guidance that these players need.”

“Mike has been a great asset to our program,” said Electricians' Board Chairman Glenn Andrews.  "He came in under very difficult circumstances, righted the ship, and demonstrated, by the number of players that he moved, that Electricians hockey is the place to play for players looking to move to a higher level.”

Dagenais will be getting married in September and will be relocating to Rochester, Minnesota where his fiancée is employed by the Mayo Clinic.

The Electricians' Board of Directors will begin an immediate search for a new coach.
