Hebert qualifies for PGA Championship

(AP) -- Escanaba native Scott Hebert tied for 11th place in the PGA Professional National Golf Tournament in French Lick, Ind. to earn a spot in the PGA Championship next month.

Hebert, head professional at Grand Traverse Resort near Traverse City, shot a final round 75 Wednesday to finish at two-over-par 288 for the tournament. Hebert will compete in golf's final major of the season, Aug. 12-15, at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.

Mike Small won the PGA Professional for the record-trying third time, birdieing three of the final five holes Wednesday for a three-stroke victory over Sonny Skinner.
