6th GLIAC Player of the Week Honor

Katie Wysocky garnered Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week accolades today for the sixth time this season. The 6-0 forward averaged 13.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two GLIAC wins last week to help the Huskies build a three-game lead in the league standings.

Wysocky tallied 14 points, a season-high 17 rebounds and four assists in just 26 minutes of play vs. Ferris State last Thursday (Feb. 11). During the game, she moved into second place on Tech’s all-time scoring chart with 1,716 points. Against Grand Valley State (Feb. 13), Wysocky notched 13 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. The senior All-America candidate is averaging 17.6 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists on the season. She owns career marks of 1,730 points and 1,119 rebounds.

Tech has had eight of the 12 GLIAC North Division Players of the Week in 2009-10. Wysocky earned the honor Nov. 23, Dec. 14, Jan. 4, Jan. 11 and Jan. 25 in addition to this week. Danae Danen (Dec. 21) and Katie Zimmerman (Feb. 1) have also gained the award.

Michigan Tech has won 12 straight games to improve its record to 22-1 overall and 17-1 in GLIAC play. The Huskies will play their final two regular season road games this week at Findlay Thursday (Feb. 18) and Hillsdale Saturday (Feb. 20).
