Stream and Wysocky Named Academic All-District First Team

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech women’s basketball seniors Sarah Stream (Ishpeming, Mich./Westwood) and Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) recently earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District accolades.  The pair were both chosen to the College Division’s District IV First Team, making them eligible for Academic All-America status.

Stream currently averages 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for the fourth-ranked Huskies.  The 5-7 guard possesses the fourth-best assist-to-turnover ratio in NCAA Division II at 2.7-to-1.  She is a graduate student in biological sciences with a 4.0 grade point average.

Wysocky presently averages 17.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.  She ranks second in the nation in rebounding and seventh in field goal percentage at 60.3.  The 6-0 forward is third all-time at Tech in points (1,703) and first in rebounds (1,088).  She owns a 3.89 grade point average in busines administration with a concentration in finance.

The nominating and voting for the Academic All-America program are completed by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  To be eligible, student-athletes must be starters or key reserves, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better and not be in their first year at their institution.  CoSIDA’s College Division District IV consists of all non-NCAA Division I institutions in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

Stream and Wysocky were ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team honorees a year ago.  As members of the All-District First Team, they will be two of only 40 candidates on the national ballot for Academic All-America Team, which will be released Feb. 23
