ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers third baseman Michael Young is running the bases for the first time since being injured.

Two weeks after he strained his left hamstring running out a grounder, Young tested himself Tuesday before the Rangers played Oakland.

Young, who got hurt Sept. 1, has said he'd like to be back on the field for the Rangers' series this weekend against the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels.

The Rangers went into Tuesday night's game six games behind the Angels and 4½ behind wild-card leader Boston.
