USOEC Wrestlers win silver in Sweden

Eight United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman Wrestlers gained their first international experience at the Lilla Mälar Cup in Stockholm this weekend with two athletes earning silver medals.

In the 55-kilogram weight class, Ramon Moreno of Miami Lakes, FL earned his silver medal by defeating Rahman Khashei of Sweden 4-2, 1-4, 2-0.

Finishing second at 60 kg was Mike Mioni of Phoenix. Mioni received his silver by defeating Simon Andersson of Sweden 1-0, 1-0.

Brandon Rivera of East Plainfield, IL, who competed at 96 kg., took fourth place. Rivera faced Anders Malmstrøm of Norway, winning 4-1, 3-0 to advance to the bronze medal match. In the match for bronze, Rivera lost a close contest to Anton Euren of Sweden 0-1, 2-0, 0-1.

The USOEC team finished third overall in the competition with seven athletes finishing in the top ten. Sweden won the title, followed by Finland.
