NMU Football Falls at Hillsdale

The Northern Michigan University football team lost its third game in a row with a 44-6 defeat to Hillsdale College on Saturday (Sept. 29) afternoon from Frank “Muddy” Water Stadium. The Wildcats are now 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference.

The Wildcats scored on two field goals by senior kicker Rockne Belmonte. He had a 35-yarder in the second quarter and his longest kick in the last
two years, a 46-yarder in the third.

Hillsdale remains unbeaten in the conference at 4-0 and are 4-1 overall. The Chargers scored 34 points before halftime and added a touchdown and
field goal in the second half, scoring on their first six drives of the game.

Hillsdale’s running back Joe Glendenning, the 2011 GLIAC Player of the Year, scored three touchdowns with 106 yards on the ground on 24 carries.
Quarterback Anthony Mifsud was 14-for-17 through the air for 223 yards and two touchdowns and an interception. He also had a rushing touchdown. Evan Bach had 98 receiving yards on three grabs with a touchdown. Andrew Mott had a touchdown and 80 receiving yards.

Senior running back Prince Young had 116 yards on the ground on 26 carries. Redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Morley was 12-for-21 for 105
yards and four interceptions. Junior Christian Jessie had four receptions for 47 yards.

Junior Morgan Stenz, sophomore Nick Krause and senior Eddie Knoblock led the team with 10 total tackles each. Krause had a tackles for loss and
freshman Nolan Davenport had an interception.

The ‘Cats host Michigan Tech on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Superior Dome on Family Weekend and Youth Sports Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Youth are
encouraged to wear jerseys. Group tickets for students and adults are $5 and may be purchased in advance at the NMU Ticket Office in the Dome,
online at www.nmu.edu/tickets or by calling 906-227-1032.  All teams ordering group tickets in advance will be recognized at the game on the
message center and over the PA thanking them for their attendance.
