Bridesmaids no more at Ore to Shore

MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Cole House of Oneida, WI moved up from second place last year to first place this year in the 13th annual Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic 48-mile Hard Rock men's race.

House held off multi-year winner Brian Matter of Sheboygan, WI by three-tenths of a second.  The winning time was 2 hours, 26 minutes, 2.4 seconds.  Two other riders, Mike Phillips of Chicago and Christian Tanguy of Rochester, MI, also finished within one second of House.  Ishpeming's Tyler Gauthier was sixth, about 25 seconds behind House.

Chloe Woodruff of Tucson, AZ edged previous winner, Mankato, Minnesota's Jenna Rinehart, to win the Hard Rock women's race.  Woodruff's winning time was 2 hours, 43 minutes, 29.1 seconds.  Rinehart trailed by 1.6 seconds.

Negaunee's Colin Kytta won the 28-mile Soft Rock men's race in 1 hour, 25 minutes, 16.3 seconds.  Runner-up Matt Zak of Minnesota was credited with the same time with Painesdale's Pete Karinen three-tenths of a second back.

Marquette's Cooper Dendel captured the Soft Rock women's race in 1 hour, 31 minutes, 47.3 seconds.
