ST. IGNACE -- The 27th annual Upper Peninsula All-Star Basketball Classic moves back to the eastern U.P. this year. Saturday's games will take place in St. Ignace.
This year's game will have both U.P. Girls Class ABC Players of the Year, Escanaba's Olivia Nash and Gladstone's Jammie Botruff, on the south squad.
Nash will continue her career at Oakland University while Botruff will play at Grand Valley State.
Several other Division II and III bound girls will be on the court, including Houghton's Taylor Dillinger, going to Minnesota-Duluth, and St. Ignace's Lauren Goldthorpe, who will play at Lake Superior State.
For the boys, the U.P. Players of the Year will be on the north team: Steven Angeli of Sault Sainte Marie and Kenya Oas of Munising.
Steve's father, Jamie Angeli, an Iron River native, will speak at the 8:30 a.m. breakfast which is open to the public.
Jamie Angeli is the current associate head coach and assistant athletic director for marketing at the City College of New York. Previously, Angeli's stops included being an assistant at Bradley University and UCLA.
There will be a skills contest before the girls' game, which tips off at noon eastern time, while the boys' game should start around two o'clock.
