GREEN BAY, WI -- While the current Michigan Tech football players were in the middle of spring practice last week, a former Huskie was in Green Bay trying to impress the Packers' organization enough to possibly get selected later in this month's NFL entry draft or at least garner an invitation to training camp this summer.

The Green Bay Gazette reported that former Michigan Tech defensive end Drew Vanderlin was worked out by the team last week, along with Western Michigan's Drew Novak.

Both players are from the area.

Vanderlin completed his senior season this past fall and in ten games had 33 tackles, nine and a half of those coming with a loss on the play.

Vanderlin also had six and a half tackles good for second on the team behind Calumet's Todd Storm. He also was named to the ALL-GLIAC First team for his efforts last season.

In his career, Vanderlin made 117 tackles, 64 solo and 36 tackles for a loss. He also had 20 sacks.
