IRONWOOD -- (Courtesy of GCC Athletics) Gogebic Community College's Brittany Czerneski & Randy Clark were recently selected to the NJCAA Division II All Region 13 Basketball teams.
Brittany Czerneski, a sophomore from Hurley, Wisconsin, averaged 14.4 points per game while shooting 60.26 percent (141/236) from the floor (4th in the nation for DII) and 81.25 percent (78/96) from the free throw line (22nd in the nation for DII). Czerneski also led the Lady Samsons (13-13) with 222 rebounds for an 8.52 rebound per game average.
Coach Stephanie Justinak said, "Brittany has been a valuable asset in her two seasons with the Lady Samsons. She was a strong force in the inside for us as well as a leader both on and off the floor for the team. Her contributions will be missed next season."
Randy Clark, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 14.96 points per game in helping the Samsons to a 17-11 record. Clark shot 48.5 percent (177/365) from the floor, 31.6 percent (24/76) from behind the three point line and 70.69 percent (41/58) from the free throw line. Clark led the Samsons with 6.6 assists per game (14th in the nation for DII), 6.3 rebounds per game, and 2.46 steals per game (27th in nation for DII).
Coach Dennis Mackey said, "Randy was the floor leader for this year's Samsons. His playmaking abilities on both offense and defense played a large role in the team's success throughout the season. We're hoping for even better production from Randy for the Samsons next season. "
