ONTONAGON (AP) -- State police say an Upper Peninsula woman has been charged with embezzling at least $1,000 while serving as treasurer of the Ontonagon Youth Hockey Association.
Detective Sgt. Ken Walker at the Wakefield post said Wednesday that 43-year-old Anne Pollard of Ontonagon was arrested on a charge of embezzling $1,000 to $20,000, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
Walker says Pollard has served as the hockey group's treasurer for the past two years. He says board members contacted state police in August because of suspicions about the group's finances.
Walker says an investigation found that Pollard used the money for her own benefit.
A phone number listed for Pollard was not in service Thursday, and she couldn't be reached for comment
