Michigan Tech winger Milos Gordic and goaltender Josh Robinson have been selected as Red Baron WCHA Players of the Week for November 1. Gordic was the league’s offensive player of the week while Robinson, who was also the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18, earned co-defensive player of the week.

Gordic, a 6-5, 210-pound sophomore from Burnaby, B.C., was the Huskies’ offensive catalyst against the visiting Pioneers. After missing the first six games recovering from offseason surgery, Gordic tallied a three-goal hat trick in his first action of the season last Friday (Oct. 28) in a 7-2 triumph over Denver. He scored two power-play goals and an empty-netter in the game for the first hat trick by a Tech player since Brett Olson’s vs. Northern Michigan on Oct. 9, 2009. Gordic then came back to score the game-opening goal in a 2-2 tie vs. DU last Saturday (Oct. 29). In addition to his four goals, Gordic also fired eight shots on goal in the series as Tech remained unbeaten at home at 5-0-1.

Robinson, a 6-0, 185-pound senior from Frankenmuth, Mich., had another strong weekend in net in helping Michigan Tech take three points from No. 2-ranked Denver. He stopped 61 of 65 shots on goal for a .938 series save percentage and surrendered just two even-strength goals. He had 38 saves on 40 shots last Friday in the 7-2 victory followed by 23 saves on 25 shots Saturday in the 2-2 tie. On the season, Robinson is 4-1-1 with a 2.28 goals-against average and a .922 saves percentage.

Robinson shared the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week accolade with Minnesota goaltender Kent Patterson. St. Cloud State’s freshman goalie Ryan Faragher garnered the WCHA Rookie of the Week nod.

Michigan Tech brings its 5-2-1 record into this weekend’s series against 1-5-0 Minnesota State. The Huskies host the Mavericks at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena both Friday and Saturday (Nov. 4-5) nights at 7:07 p.m.
