MARQUETTE -- A successful Upper Peninsula cross country season has come to a close, and Wednesday the top runners, teams and coaches were selected.
The coaches association met in Marquette yesterday vote on the nominations.
The UP Finals were held Saturday in Munising under very good conditions.
The Girls Runner of the Year is Calumet's Tara Kiilunen. She captured the Division One final in 19 minutes, 12 seconds.
Kiilunen is joined by her Copper Kings teammmate Rachel Poyhonen, Marquette's Calla Martysz, Ironwood's Jessica Gering,
Leah Jarvie of Rudyard, Division Two winner Sarah Cullip of Saint Ignace and Houghton's Addy Grier-Welch.
The Large School Girls Team of the Year is Marquette while Rudyard earns the honor for the small schools.
The Boys Runner of the Year is Houghton's Dylan Turpeinen. He crossed the line first in Division One with a time of 17 minutes and two seconds.
Also on the dream team is Division Three champion Andrew Kelto of Munising, Daniel Kulas from Kingsford, Division Two winner Jono Newlin of Stephenson,
Davey Luplow of Menominee, Negaunee's Steven Olson and Gwinn's Matt Moilanen.
Houghton easily won the Large School Boys Team of the Year honor while Stephenson led the small school voting.
The Coaches of the Year include Houghton's Traci Filpus in Division One, Stephenson's Mike Herres in Division Two, and Ryan Wilson of Cedarville in d-3.
Cedarville won the Division Three girls crown and the boys were the runner-up.
