Wildcat keeper Jessica Baker wins GLIAC Athlete of the Week

MARQUETTE -- (Courtesy of NMU Athletics) For the second week in a row a Northern Michigan University soccer player has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference “Player of the Week”. Goalkeeper Jessica Baker (Holt, Mich.) was honored after leading the Wildcats to two wins last week.

Baker, a junior goalkeeper, led NMU to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Michigan Tech (3-1) and Ohio Dominican (1-0). Baker made seven saves in each game, while earning her second shutout of the season and fifth of her career in the win at ODU. Baker is 4-0-1 for the ‘Cats this season, has a 0.77 goals against average and an 85.7 save percentage.

The unbeaten Wildcats travel south to Ferris State and Grand Valley State this weekend for a pair of GLIAC North games.

Chelsea Lyons earned the GLIAC “Player of the Week” last week.
