HUMBOLDT, MI -- The baseball season has moved into the dogs days of summer. But it doesn't matter what season it is. If you like collecting baseball cards, we might have a place for you.
It's located on US-41, about a mile west of the intersection with M-95 in Humboldt in Western Marquette County.
Carolyn's Rock Shop is the official title, but she has thousands and thousands of baseball cards and other memorabilia from her father-in-law, who was a huge baseball fan.
Even though Carolyn Bazinette Malast has all kinds of cards (baseball, football, basketball, comics), not everything is in her basement, but there's still a lot.
Carolyn Bazinette Malast says, "All his signature baseball gloves, bats and uniforms from the players went to Christie's (auction house) in New York and were sold, but there was some stuff left. There's a Ted Williams (card) left and a (Roy) Campanella. I would love to have the children that like baseball to come up and look through the cards."
Malast has one of the biggest rock collections in the Upper Peninsula. She has a number of fine samples from the U.P., and she has rocks from Washington and Oregon and even Brazil, plus she even makes her own jewelry and sells that.
The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to about 7 p.m., or you can call for an appointment.
