ELK RAPIDS -- Gladstone High School won another Regional Championship in softball beating Tawas 5-3 in the title game. The storyline was the same, Mackenzie Shepeck was the best player on the diamond in both games.

In the regional semifinals Shepeck threw a perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced and hit a home run in a 12-0 win over Kingsley. In the championship game Tawas went ahead 2-1 in the second inning but the Braves used the long ball to get back into the lead.

Whitney Wells and Shepeck both hit solo home runs, while Shepeck added a two run shot to close out the scoring. She went the distance on the mound giving up just two earned runs for the win, striking out 10 and giving up just one hit after the second inning.

The Braves head to the quarterfinals in Traverse City on Tuesday at noon eastern. They will play Manistee at T.C. West. This is their third straight Regional Championship.
