FARMINGTON HILLS -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced that head coach Jim Roque of Lake Superior State University has been issued a fine and been publicly reprimanded as provided by the CCHA’s Code of Regulations for a violation of the league’s Good Conduct Policy.
“The CCHA has a number of post-game protocols for a coach to properly express their concerns over issues that may have occurred during the course of a game,” stated CCHA Commissioner Tom Anastos. “There is no excuse or acceptable explanation for public comments that challenge the integrity of the league’s on-ice officials or administrative processes.”
The action was taken by the league after a review of public comments attributed to the coach. The conference’s Good Conduct Policy stipulates that: “No employee (e.g., coaches, athletic staff members, etc.) or student-athlete of a member institution shall make derogatory remarks to the press or public about opponents or officials."
Roque was suspended one game last week against Western Michigan by the conference. There was no word from the CCHA whether both penalties were for one incident or multiple ones.
