Izzo traveled to Cleveland to meet with the Cavaliers
EAST LANSING (AP) -- Michigan State basketball fans held an impromptu rally outside the Breslin Center in East Lansing to persuade coach Tom Izzo to stay at the school.
A person familiar with Izzo's travel plans said Izzo traveled to Cleveland to meet with the Cavaliers about becoming their coach.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Cavs aren't commenting on the search.
The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press say Izzo, his wife, Lupe, and their two children, returned to Capital City Airport in Lansing on a private jet about 11:15 p.m. Thursday.
He declined to discuss the trip, but when asked about a timetable for his decision, Izzo said, "It's not gonna be forever, that's for sure."
Izzo has flirted with jumping to the NBA several times.
