Girls Gymnastics and Boys Tennis

The Escanaba Eskymos will have Girls' Gymnastics and Boys' tennis teams this year after all.

The two sports were cut by the Escanaba School Board last month, but the Eskymo Fan Club has donated $50,000 to restore the two sports for this school year.  The school board accepted the donation at its Monday night meeting.

Superintendent Michelle Burley said it is a one-time donation, and funding issues are still a problem for the future.  She added that some of the money will also be used to reduce the impact of "Pay to Ride," where parents would have been responsible for the kids' transportation to away games.
