MARQUETTE -- A former Upper Peninsula High School Dream team football player is looking to have a bigger impact with the N.M.U. Wildcats this fall.

Jake Lehmann, graduate of Ishpeming High School, had his prep career end during a playoff game against Rogers City.  Lehmann picked up a first down on the option, but he broke his leg when he was tackled.

Lehmann has played sparingly with the Wildcats for two seasons, recording five tackles and recovering a fumble.

This spring he says he's ready to step-up.  "Everything is good, healthy, ready to get ready for the season and ready to put a lot of good work in.  We're looking good as a team," said the Hematite alum.  "Not a lot new going in, just trying to get comfortable in our defense and get everyone healthy."

Lehmann was a Dream Team defensive back in 2006.  The Wildcats spring game is Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. in the Superior Dome.
