An Upper Peninsula football player finished fourth in the National Punt, Pass and Kick competition over the weekend in Atlanta.

Eleven-year-old John Paramski of Newberry set a state of Michigan record in the Boys 10-11 year old age group to qualify for the 24th annual Nationals.

According to his father, Pete, John had very good results in the punting and passing parts of the finals, but he lost points when his kicks did not go straight down field, ending up in fourth place.

Malik Muhammad of Sheboygan, Wisconsin was the winner in the boys 10-11 year old age group.
