Northern Michigan University swimming and diving coach Heidi Voigt announced the signing of two swimmers from Wisconsin to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.

Rachel Borchardt, from Hartford, Wis., qualified for the Wisconsin State Meet in the 100 and 200 freestyle as a senior at Hartford Union High School.

"It will be great to add another sprinter who will immediately impact our relays," Voigt said. "Rachel excels at freestyle and butterfly. She has great stroke technique developed by Mark Kohnhorst as a member of Lake Country Swim Club. Rachel is also an excellent student and is interested in studying speech, language and hearing sciences."

Katie Bourguignon, from De Pere, Wis., is a backstroke and individual medley specialist who can also be a freestyle sprinter. She is a three-time Wisconsin state qualifier and has been to YMCA Nationals numerous times. Her sister Emily is currently a sophomore for the Wildcats.

"I am very excited to have Katie join our team," Voigt added. "Not only will she add much needed depth to our backstroke squad, but her versatility will make her a great asset to the team. She has great stroke technique developed by her club coach Dave Korst from Green Bay YMCA Swim Club. She is dedicated to her studies and wants to pursue nursing at NMU."
