MARQUETTE -- This year the Noquemanon Ski Marathon is introducing a new event called sit skiing.

Sit skiing is exactly how it sounds. Skiers sit and use their upper body strength with the help of poles to propel them forward.

This event is geared towards those who are unable to use their lower body. Many say the adaptive ski race is another great way to stay active, especially during the winter months.

"I do really enjoy it. It's not as easy as some people would think because you're pulling your entire body weight on two pairs of skis, but it is really enjoyable and it's gonna be a fun race," said Jessica Manier, sit skier.

The skiers traveled 500 meters, and volunteers were also on hand to assist the skiers on the trail.
