HARRIS -- Two birdies to start the round enabled Leah Wigger to keep the lead, and she won the Island Resort Championship tournament on the Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA, at the Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris.
Wigger drained a 30 foot putt on the second hole, but she was still tied with former Michigan State golfer Aimee Neff after nine holes at six under par.
Wigger executed a great second shot on the par four tenth hole and sank the short birdie putt to take over the lead which she maintained the rest of the way. Wigger parred the last eight holes, finishing with a two under par 70 and a total of seven under par 209.
Three golfers tied for second place. South Korea's Victoria Park birdied the last four holes to conclude at four under par 216. Park was joined by Dayton, Ohio's Victoria Elizabeth and Berwyn, Illinois' Nicole Jeray. Elizabeth also birdied the 15th hole to get to five under par, but she finished bogey, bogey, birdie to tied Park and Jeray.
Three golfers tied for third place. Neff, a Carmel, Indiana native, plus Natalie Sheary of West Hartfield, CT and South Korea's Hanna Kang were three under par 213 for the championship.
Wigger is from Louisville, KY and played her college golf at the University of Virginia. She collects $15,400 for her victory.
