NMU skiers earn All-American honors

Four Northern Michigan University Nordic skiers competed at the USSA Junior National Championships last week at Birch Hill. Freshmen Hannah Boyer, Megan Edic and Felicia Gesior had top 10 finishes to become Junior All-Americans. Freshman Sam Elfstrom also competed in Alaska.

Gesior won the freestyle sprint in 3:16.36 on Thursday (March 14). Boyer finished 10th, Edic was 16th and Elfstrom was 27th.

Boyer won the 10K classic on Saturday (March 16) with Gesior one second back in second. Edic finished 10th in the event.

Boyer finished third, Gesior was 10th and Edic 16th in the freestyle on Monday (March 11).

The 3x3K classic relays were on Tuesday (March 12). Boyer's relay squad won her age group in the event as she skied the anchor leg. Gesior and Edic's relay team finished ninth. Elfstrom's squad also placed ninth.

Elfstrom placed 21st in the classic and 31st in the freestyle.
