STATE INDIVIDUAL WRESTLING FINALS - at Auburn Hills
The Upper Peninsula had two champions crowned, both from St. Ignace
D-4 Galloway Thurston at 171 pounds...his second state title
D-4 Joe Ostman at 215 pounds...his third state title

The Upper Peninsula had two runners-up.
D-3 Menominee's Chris Briar lost to Leslie's Zehlin Storr at 135 pounds in a 7-3 decision.
D-4 St. Ignace's Richard Bentley lost a 7-0 decision to Hudson's Cole Weaver at 130 pounds.
Both Storr and Weaver completed undefeated seasons.

STATE INDIVIDUAL BOWLING FINALS
D-3 at Jackson
Ishpeming had three bowlers qualify for the sweet 16 round.
Tyler Windahl won his first match, but lost in the quarterfinals by one pin to the eventual state champion.
Matt Kilberg won his first match, but he also lost in the quarterfinals.
Kaytlynne Carlson won her first match, but she also lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champion.

In Division Two Boys Sault Ste. Marie's Nick Beatty also lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champion.
In Division Four Boys St. Ignace's Jake Dodds lost in the round of 16.

Wayne State University, Michigan Technological University and the University of Findlay all tied for the GLIAC Championship, each finishing with a league record of 16-6.  Wayne State earned the top seed in the tournament through the GLIAC's tiebreaker system and will host No. 8 seed Lake Superior State University at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 6.

Michigan Tech earned the No. 2 seed and will host seventh-seeded Northwood University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.  Findlay is the South Division Champ and the No. 3 seed in the tournament.  The Oilers will welcome No. 6 seed Ferris State University at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.  Grand Valley State University garnered the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Hillsdale College in quarterfinal play.

The 2013 GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals will be hosted by the top remaining seed after quarterfinal play on Saturday, Mar. 9.  The Tournament final will be played at the same site on Sunday, Mar. 10.  (Game times are TBD).

Ashland, which also claimed the 2013 GLIAC South Division title, will host the No. 8 seed Northern Michigan University at 7:00 p.m. in the tournament's opening round on Wednesday. 

In other quarterfinal action, No. 2 University of Findlay will host seventh-seeded Saginaw Valley State University at 8:00 p.m.,  No. 3 Wayne State University welcomes No. 6 Ferris State University at 8:00 p.m., while No. 5 Grand Valley State University will visit Michigan Technological University at 7:30 p.m.
