NMU Swimming and Diving Finishes Day One at Stevens Point

The Northern Michigan University swimming and diving team finished day one at the Border Battle Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Nov. 9). Also participating in the meet are South Dakota,
Minnesota-Mankato and UW-Milwaukee.

NMU won two of the four individual events on the day. Sophomore Molly Kearney qualified for NCAA Nationals in the one-meter dive, winning the event. Sophomore Emily Brennan won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:15.89

Caitlyn Brenden was second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.99. In the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Crystal Bennet finished third in 24.86.

The 400 medley relay squad finished second behind UW-Milwaukee. Racing for the Wildcats were sophomores Emily Bourguignon, Madisen Sechena, Debbi Lawrence and Bennet.

Northern wraps up the two-day meet on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Central.
