Tech Volleyball falls to Northwood 3-1

Shelby Jones finished with 18 kills and 19 digs but it wasn't enough as Michigan Tech lost to Northwood 3-1 in GLIAC volleyball action Friday (Nov. 2). Northwood remains atop the league undefeated at 15-0.

"Tonight was no moral victory," said head coach Matt Jennings. "I was happy with parts of our play. Shelby stepped up tonight. I was happy to see her come back and have a match like this. If we came out and played like we finished maybe the result would have been different."

Northwood controlled the first set finishing with a match-high 19 kills and hitting .326 in the 25-17 win. The visitors hit .135 to win the second set 25-20.

After intermission, the Huskies hit a match-high .233 to win the third set by two points. The decisive set was a back and forth affair that finished with a three point win by Northwood.

Tech had three other players finish with more than 10 digs, Aubrey Havlichek (13),Madeline Haben (15) and Jacqueline Aird (16). Haben added 31 assists and seven kills with zero errors.

Sylvie Rokosh tallied 11 kills for the Black and Gold.

NU finished with a 62-39 advantage in kills and a 9-5 lead in blocks.

Tech will host Hillsdale Saturday (Nov. 3) at 4 pm.
